About Us
Our Story
Velvet DeVille’s music draws inspiration from a rich tapestry of eras, art movements, and vibes. Ava Morris (vocalist/lyricist) weaves timeless, moody songs that are infused with rock energy. Her current sound is bolstered by her brother, guitarist Brock Morris, and the high-octane funk rhythms provided by their longtime friend and drummer, Lucas Jacobs. Ava cites vocal powerhouses like Cass Elliott from the ’60s group Mamas and The Papas, as well as Stevie Nicks, as her influences. “I love the authenticity and honest vibe of the Laurel Canyon music scene from the ’60s and ’70s,” says the 20-year-old Michigan native.
The single release “Green Light” generated extremely favorable feedback when it aired to an audience of over 300,000 viewers. Ava, along with Brock and Lucas participated in the spectacular annual Novant Healthcare Parade in Charlotte, NC. The appearance in the parade along with the song was broadcast to over 2 million homes in the Carolinas and an additional two times over the holiday season of 2023. “We had just closed the chapter on our former band and sorting out the next direction for our music when this opportunity was presented to us,” says Ava.
In 2022 and 2023, their previous band Frame 42 garnered support from stations like Flint Michigan’s Banana 101.5 and 103.9 The Fox, along with Detroit rock giant WRIF (who included them on their annual Riff Fest at Pine Knob, a 15k capacity venue). They’ve toured with national acts, performed on acclaimed festivals such as Blue Ridge Rock Fest in VA and iHeart Radio’s Earth Day Birthday in Florida in addition to home base regional Michigan events like Arts, Beats & Eats.
